The problem is a HEAVY grinding or rubbing sound which seems to be comming from within the transmission tunnel under medium to hard acceleration. Usually only 1st gear and only from a dead stop but continues until easing off on the gas. Otherwise, no noise. I'm a pretty good hand with a wrench and I put the car on my lift but found no sign of any rub marks or "shiney" spots on the rear axle shafts, driveshaft, exhaust pipes or transmission tunnel (as far as I could see). This problem was occuring BEFORE I put in the NEW rear trans mount cup and spring. It is a "rotational" sound but I just can't find it. Ideas anyone???
Thanks,
Garland Gentry

I had the same problem after sevicing the transmission. The rear transmission mount was not centered. I couldn't find any evidence of a rub either. Loosen it up and reposition it. It doesn't have to be off much. Ray Papineau JDRC/NWA
