Frank,

A number of years ago I built a rather large garage to store my toys and REALLY needed a lift. I placed an ad in a weekly paper that's given out locally. In the ad I said i'm tired of crawling on the floor and needed a used above ground electric lift. I got a call, saw it, liked it (it was up and runnung), bought it, installed it. A week later, another called me with a lift and bought that too. (A very large garage) These are older from the '60's or 70's, but a lot more massive (overbuilt) than the new ones at the same weight limits. They were already up, so I could test them. I did have to tear them down, but had help. At $1000 each, I was very happy. Not that long ago a local Chevy dealer went under and about a dozen almost new lifts were sold about that price. I'll bet if you try Craigslist in your area you'll find something. With the price of scrap steel so high now, i'll bet a used lift price is close to scrap steel price.
