69 e-type starter, ignition switch, smells of burning wires....help???

Thank you! I appreciate all of you sharing your knowledge of E-Types with me. This is my first E-type, after owning many MG's over the years. I have owned this car for two years, I love it, but my knowledge of E-Types is limited. Peter your idea seems to be the simplest and easiest for an E-Type novice like myself to accomplish. My ignition switch has always worked perfectly to this point. I am keeping my fingers crossed that once I confirm my car is indeed grounded she cranks. If not, things get a little more complicated. Wish me luck, and thanks again for your input.
