Joe, IMHO, If your going over the front.
1 bonnet removed.
2.Carbs/ exhaust
3 . water pump
4 radiator assembly complete
5 rear stabilizer rod
6 torsion plate
7 prop shaft
8 All upper pulley and brackets.
I then jacked the car up onto ramps, if you don't have a lift, This way the engine and tranny come out as one and you have enough angle for the tail shaft and the ground.
Once out then the front suspension and torsion bars.
Good luck, been there , but its really worth it if your going to drive it, check under frame rails, its important to check for cracks.........
We can get into xj40 ball joints and nippo starters when you get there......
