I am unable to get my sunroof to operate properly. It will partially tilt up and down (crooked) and will not slide back/open at all. I can hear the motor working so I don't believe that could be the problem. I've been told that it's most likely broken plastic tracks and/or plastic gears. Furthermore the sunroof shop I took it to said these parts run around $300.00 at best, plus labor. It's apparently a difficult fix and requires complete removal of the roof liner for acceess. Any advise on where to obtain parts at a more reasonable price? Are these parts available in metal? I know XJR's formerly used plastic timing chain tensioners which frequently failed and were finally replaced by Jaguar with metal ones. I am in Louisville KY and would like to find a local shop qualified to do the work. The last shop I had look at it said they would look into parts but they never got back to me.
