Does anyone know how or where I can get the A/C heater electronic controller for my 1987 XJS C (V12) tested? I'm pretty sure it is dead, but I'd like to know before I invest in a new one.
Which leads to the question of where is the best place to look for one? So far Jagbits is the cheapest.

By "controller" do you mean the climate control ECU ? Shaped sorta like a grand piano, but about 3" x 6" in overall size, with about 40 small wires? Mounted behind the console "cheek panel"?
I don't know if there ever was an off-the-car test. The on-car test, using a volt/ohm meter, is about 50 steps. The test procedure is in the later Jaguar shop manuals. You'll want the little plastic test strips----plastic insulators which fit over the contact pins so as to prevent your test probe from accidentally touching two pins at once.
If you can find a Jag dealer with some old-timer veterans who remember what an XJS is they might be able to help you out.
What kind of problem are you having? Before replacing parts check the various connectors and grounds. The behind-the-dashboard regions of an XJS tend to be damp (for various reasons) and the connectors often pack up with corrosion. The grounds---one on each side of the main climate control casing---are often rusty. You might as well take a few hours and clean all the connections as any testing done won't be valid if they are dirty....and cleaning them might solve the problem.
Good luck
