the ac on my 2000 s type 4.0 has had a slow freon leak. i have been periodically adding frean as needed. the air was just about at the point for me to add some more when the ac completely shut off. i tried to add some more freon but it would not take a drop. i have heard that the compressor has a safety function that shuts it down to prevent it from burning up. is this true and is there some way for a novis like myself to reset something in the compresor to allow it to accept freon, or am i just out of luck and have to take it to a service center. any help will be greatly appreciated.
