I am in the process of installing the bonnet which was not on the car when I purchased the car. It is the bonnet from the car for sure. There is a 5/8" gap between the cowl and bonnet that I have been unable to adjust closed. I would like to cut out a section of the hinges which might close the space at the cowl. That would also align the lower bonnet with the wheel wells. Would like to know if that would work and how do I remove the right hand side hinge.

I just bought some specially made hinges by Classic Jaguar in Texas that have been shortned in both length and height to address this problem. Get in touch with them. Isn't your car the 18th 4.2 roadster made? I had an early 4.2 that did not have the 1E prefix on the commission plate or on the frame over the right front shock. Does your car have the 1E prefix in these areas?
