I have a 1971 E-type FHC with a 9:1 Compression 4.2 engine. While recently completing routine maintenance, I noticed a coolant leak. Upon closer inspection, I discovered a corroded and broken cylinder head stud. In removing the head, a second corroded and broken stud was found. Both studs are at the #1 cylinder, were badly corroded and broken at the base of the water passage (confirmed by removing the core plug for visuals and access). Prior to my ownership, the car was off the road for a number of years, and I can't comment on the quality of the coolant in the system during this period. My plan is to remove the two broken studs and replace the entire stud set. Any guidance regarding how to access and remove these studs will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan
