Jim, I'm fairly sure that *warranty* history can be pulled up from Jaguar's corporate database by any Jag dealer. I'm not aware of a central database used by Jag dealers to record non-warranty repairs and services....unless they were covered by a Jaguar service contract or otherwise submitted via the "warranty system".

Do you have experience to the contrary?

Any Jaguar dealer can access history regarding service done by any Jag dealer and probably ownership history.

Very important that you confirm that the camshaft timing chain tensioners have been replaced on your car. This is a notorious weak link on V8s of your era that can cause you very expensive repairs. Do not drive the car if you hear any unusual noises, especially at cold start up.
