Has anyone out there had experience with the "new" air conditioning systems for the E-Type made by CMC or Clayton in the UK? I am having a 66 FHC being restored and my restorer, a well known US E-Type restorer, has a concern that these systems do not have adequate cooling power for the US market and are only marginal and can be effective only in a temperate climate like the UK. I do not want to put the original type of Series I or Series II air conditioning system in the car.

Have you considered European Cooler Air? They make a nice system, right here in the US:

FWIW, I think the CMC kit will put out adequate cool air, and is a somewhat elegant design. The problem I see is that the heater box and the box section behind the dash aren't designed to carry chilled air. Think about what will happen to the condensation. Isn't there enough rust risk in these cars already?
