Hi, I own a 1990 XJ6 Sovereign with a 4.0 litre engine. Occassionally, the starter will not engage. I have been getting the starter to engage by moving the shifter from park to neutral and sometimes starting the car from there or shifting back to park where it starts. I've reviewed the technical manual and seem to have narrowed it to the problem being the starter inhibitor or gear box sensor switch...or maybe it's something else? Also, where are these two switches located? Any help anyone can give me is greatly appreciated. Ren

Do I need a Starter Inhibitor or Gear Box Sensor Switch
Hi , it probably is the starter inhibit switch, normally located on the lower shifter area under the top of the console / shifter area , probably just needs an adjustment back or forward........
