My 1999 XJ8 was not on the road for a while. I had to change the heater hose and had to wait until I had the time. The engine is back together and the car is running great. However when I get into the car and start it the red light goes on and it says that the passanger and drivers door is open. Where do I start?

problem with door controller
I have getting the door open warning and the odd behavior where the right rear switch open the drivers window
I tried taking the battery cable off overnight and while it clears to have cleared everything else i still have the driver door issue.
Holding the door lock button didn't do anything for me either

Door open warning?
Hi Steven,
Thank you for the prompt response. I have had the car running a few times and it runs beautifully. I just noticed that the window switch is not working correctly from the drivers controls. the only one that works is the back passanger side switch but it opens the drivers window.

Door open warning?
The first thing to do since the car spent so much time out of commission, is to disconnect the battery, see that battery is fully charged properly and reconnect.
Then start her up and reset the clock, etc. and see how it acts. That will make sure all the modules are reset and hopefully thinking clearly. Might do the trick.
Cheers,
Thank you Steven, You were right on. I did exactly as you said and all of the warnings are gone. Thank you for your excellent help. I did find one problem. The outside handle connection broke off at the base of the handle. I took it apart and I do not think I can put it back together where it would hold. Where can i get a handle at a good price. Dennis
