Hello everyone,
We are looking to purchase an E-Type and the undersides quite often have black undercoating, is that correct, I thought that the undersides were painted body color?
Thanks,
Karl

E-Type underside
My 69 did not have undercoating, Was painted the same as the body. Look closely sometimes undercoating is used to cover up more than potential for rust. Do not hesitate using a mallet to tap the usual places. that would be front floors, rear wheel wells etc etc etc. When id doubt tap a tune.
Best of luck on your hunt.

I bought my 70 OTS new and recall considering having it Ziebarted then. I thought I couldn't afford it as a 23 year old. So, it stayed Dark Blue. It'd been repainted when I found it on eBay 9 years ago and began its restoration. I plan to protect the wheel wells when I get some time.
