I was driving down interstate at 55mph and I lost all power. I attempted to restart car but it would turn over but not start. There were no signs of water, oil or electrical problems when the car quit. I pulled a plug and there was no spark when I attempted to start it. Next I pulled the plug wire from the distributor and test for spark from the coil but got zip. I checked the coil with an ohm meter and it appears to be okay. The motor has 200000 miles but it runs like a champ and the car is in excellent shape. Please help.

Engine quit going down hiway
hi, maybe I shouldn't be sticking my nose in this because I don't know much about the '91 XJ, but generically-speaking, sounds like the ignition module failed, if the coil is fine but no spark. Ask W. hunter, an ase master mechanic who answers questions here, however I have not heard him answer any questions recently.
Try test or replace the crankshaft sensor fitted on the timing chain cover by the crankshaft pully. It controls signal to ECU for ign. and injectors.
Good luck
