Does anyone use fuel stabilizers in their V-12 E? I've
been told, by an excellent mechanic, stabilizers leave a
residue on the valve stems, sometimes making them stick
open creating a very large bill!
If stabilizers are used, what brand is recommended?
Thanks

Fuel Stabilizers
Okay, I'll bite. I generally use Stabil during winter months storage, but always add fresh in spring when I start driving. I've never heard of a residue problem. It wouldn't be a bad Idea to add Marvel Mystery oil to your crankcase for upper valve lube (amounts are given on the bottle). But I'd say if a little reside from a gas additive is causing sticking valves, then that is worth some investigation.
My pleasure, and thank you for the kind words. The point I needed but failed to make is that I wouldn't keep my Jag on a constant diet of Stabil in the tank all the time, just during winter storage months. Even with Stabil, the gas won't last indefinitely.
Best Regards,
