I have a 94 XJ6 and was looking in my owner's manual about the relay sockets mounted on the passenger side firewall. The manual states that the red socket is for an air pump for a V12 engine. I have a 6cyl engine. Is the manual incorrect??? What is the red socket on a 6 cyl car for???

Thanks in advance for your assistance,

Fred

I think the manual is correct. Jaguar might use the same assembly of relay sockets in all XJ, but which Relays are used or installed on each car depends on the model, the engine, the export market, etc., etc. It's the same for all Jags. For example, my '84 XJ-6 has wiring-in-the-ready for REAR FOG LAMPS, and for "gooseneck" Map lamps front and rear, but Rear Fog lamps are not used in North America, only in certain European countries and who knows, Australia maybe. And the "gooseneck" Map lamps were only installed in the VanDen Plas and Sovereign models. My firewall also has a Red relay socket but no Relay! the difference is that my owner's manual says the following about it: "12 cyl. only".
