I have an 88 XJ6 but I believe they are similar. Actually the hydraulic pump is necassary for your power brakes. In fact you don't need to remove anything. All you have to do is, , on the left rear strut there is a bleed screw for bleeding the hydraulic system. Retrofit the new struts, remove the hydraulic lines from the rear, and use the bleed screw to block off the hydraulic outlet up at the valve block in the engine compartment. They just happen to be the same size threads, and compression type. SO it is a perfect fit.
