Hello, I'm looking a project jag. Its an XK140 MC drophead with overdrive. It is a project car in need of a full restoration. Here is the major problem......The seller claims that all the VIN numbers match but he has misplaced the VIN plate. Is it now a parts car? Or can you get reproduction plates?
Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

HELP!! XK-140 question
Uh, he's misplaced the data plate that's riveted to the car? Don't spend too much money...
Ben don't dispair. Get the chassis number from the car. Get the engine number (and see that it matches the head number). Then get the body number and get the seller to ask for a heratige certificate (from this site you can link). The only number that is tough to confirm is the gearbox but if you can get it send it too. For a little money they will calm your fears. George Camp
