I just bought a XJ12, 1994 the light on the dash shows fuse, I traced it to the left fuse box and found the fuse removed for the alarm system. I put in the fuse and the dash light went out and the alarm came on. I tried the key in the door(open and closed) and in the ignition. these actions did not turn off the alarm. I am just asking if anyone knows how to turn off the alarm when one only has the one key that starts the car and neither of the other two keys.

Re.: Hi, Help please 94 XJ12 fuse out for alarm, I have no key fob &only on
I have just joined the forum and I hope you have been able to resolve this dilema. If you have not and must resort to leaving the fuse out, I have this information from the "security system" handbook JJM102299/32 for my 94 XJ6.
On page 9 there is instructions on emergency disarm procedure (active arming only).
"this is intended to allow the system to be disarmed and the vehicle unlocked using the key, if the handset is lost or broken. Proceed as follows: Unlock and open the driver's door. This causes the escalating response to start. Within 15 seconds of opening the door, turn the ignition key from 'off' to 'II' position 3 times. The first key turn causes the full alarm to go off as the is considered a violation"
Active arming means that the car is armed when locked as opposed to arming but not locking after 30 seconds of all doors being CLOSED. I hope this helps, regards, Bob
John, does the alarm sound immediately when you put the fuse in? Do you hear a "ticking" noise ie audible warning that the alarm is about to go off such as if the security system was set for passive alarming. Have you contacted the previous owner to get some insight as to why the fuse must be out of the system. Are you mechanically inclined? I have wiring diagrams at home and I also work at a small franchise Jaguar dealership in Victoria B.C. which gives me certain advantages. You indicated that you live in the country. Have you contacted your local dealership? This type of problem can be tricky but I am sure there is a reasonable explanation. Have you turned the security system off? The security on/off switch is in the center console. In the 'off' position the alarm is disengaged. I will try to remember to get a part number for the handset that you require which is different from that used in Canada. Bob
