Since purchasing my 1999 XJS several months ago I frequently get fault codes. Usually "Engine Failsafe Mode". I have noticed no difference in performance when this code illuminates. When I turn the car off and restart it the code is no longer displayed. Could this fault code be erroneous and of little or no concern?

Thanks for the advise Frans. Do you think it would be a good idea to disconnect all the connectors I can locate and spary some contact cleaner on them, then reconnect? Also do you know where the electronic and physical units you mention possible damage to are located? To my knowledge, virtually the only difference between the XJ8 and the XJR is the supercharger (and I would imagine the computer programming).
