I just completed a total rebuild of a 4.2 for my '76 XJ6C. It's installed and ready to roll but I cannot get any fire. Compression is great, timing is good, sparks on #6 at TDC, in fact sparks on all cylinders, firing order is correct. Suspect my rebuild on the SU H.I.F 7 carbs may have an issue. Fuel is delivered, will come out of the jets but pools in the venturi. I want to try a spray of ether to make sure it is the fuel-air mixture. Any cautions of using a little ether on the XJ engine? I get no fuel ignition whatsoever. Strange.
Thanks,
Richard
