If I recall correctly, 4 or 5 years ago is was acceptable to display the leaper on the bonnet of the XJS. Now it is not only not acceptable but a major point hit.
While the Leaper might not have been installed at the factory, many dealerships around the world replaced the Disc with the Leaper. The Leaper added to the appearance. Chrome over the wing-wells, stripes along the sides and wing on the boot might have been installed at the factory but they seem less to personify a Jaguar than the elegant Leaper. Please consider re-instating it as acceptable or at very least a very minor deduction.

Jaguar Bonnet Leaper
Before I play Don Quixote and create more work for everyone, I thought I could get feed-back from this site to see if anyone else was interested.
My 1996 XJS convertible is completely original with only 35,000 miles. I am the second owner and was told the car came with the Leaper on the Bonnet from BMC in San Francisco.
The Leaper was the only deduction I had at the last concours. Both my wife and I love the Leaper and at the risk of marrital strife it "will not" not be removed. We will accept the deduction if the rule cannot be revised.

Jaguar Bonnet Leaper
Lee you can suggest this change as can any member. It must be done in time for AGM discussion which unfortuantely is too late for this year. Please see the concours page for the forms.
As to your description I am sure dealers did as you say but Jaguar did offer Leapers to the dealers as accessories even though they were "not for cars". Odd the accessory catalogs all say "for all EXCEPT XJ-S".
I do not remember leapers ever being accepted on XJ-S or XJS cars by JCNA. I certainly do not remember that in the last 5 years.
Just to be clear on your idea posting here will do little. Send a change request to your JCRC regional rep. (on contacts page) Each region has one but not sure who that is for you as you have no club listed. He will take the action from there. Good luck and if all else fails I will walk you through the process.(also on contact list).
Lee the rule can surely be revised but there is a process. To put it simply the members of JCNA must vote to approve the change. That happens at the AGM and there is a cutoff by the bylaws of new items. Perhaps next year?
