Bottom line - I'm looking for a deep penetrating treatment.
The seats of my 69 E-Type coupe are in pretty good shape but need some TLC to soften them up. A friend advised that I used Meguiar's Gold class cleaner/conditioner, but then I saw something on line that suggested using a 2-in-1 product doesn't make sense - use a separate product for cleaning and conditioning. This made sense to me because I expected that I would clean once and condition multiple times.
I used Lexol ph balanced cleaner followed by Lexol conditioner. The seats look and feel great right after they have been conditioned but then stiffened up by the next day. I'd be happy to condition them over and over again but don't want to waste my time if there is something better out there.
Should they be oil-rubbed? I think I also randomly saw someone on-line mention a product that they microwaved and slathered on. Of course there are lots of things you read on the internet but I'd like to hear from something someone actually has done. I dont' mind if it is oily at first and takes time to set in...I've got time. Thank you!

leather seat rehydration - advice requested
An alternative is the Gliptone conditioner that SNG Barratt and others sell. It works well to soften dry leather, though several successive applications may be necessary for very dry leather. Its biggest advantage is that it restores that wonderful leather smell, and I don't know of any other including Leatherique that does.

Jason, I have also used Leatherique and was quite satisfied with the results. Please go to the Ottawa Jaguar Club web site www.ottawajaguarclub.com then to the technical section, then to the leather restoration article for more info. If that is of interest and you want to watch a vidio on the subject, go to my web site www.karamfamily.ca/leather-restoration.html for an in depth application.
Cheers

Many have good results with Leatherique Rejuvenator. I've used it often over the years....good stuff. Still takes multiple applications over a period of weeks for the leather to soften. It took *years* to harden, after all.
Somewhat faster but much messier is a mixture of anyhydrous lanolin and neatsfoot oil. It works well IMHO but is rather greasy. You can buy the lanolin and neatsfoot oil onlline
I have heard a couple reports that Leatherique will damage very old "Connolly Vaumol" leather as used in 60s vintage Jags. I think these are isolated instances but it would merit more resarch and/or contacting Leatherique.
I'm not sure if the E-types used the "Vaumol" variety of skins, for that matter.
Others will chime in.

Hey guys. A very belated reply of thanks for your suggestions. I havn't gotten to next steps on the seats but they are in pretty good shape so I probably don't need to go as far as using the Leatherique Rejuvenator (saw some demos of it online - seems to be a great product / method). But again - thanks!
