Hello all! I just moved here to Victoria maybe a month ago, I've joined the club via online forms and soon want to start attending the meetings and functions. I don't have my Jag here yet (waiting until I have my driver's license, the car was given to me before I could even drive.)

I hope to have lots of fun with the club and enjoy the functions. I can't get enough Jaguar, haha.

Robert,
You are absolutely correct!! My mistake.
Reportedly, when the car was returned to Flordia it was put on the used car lot of Hienz's dealiership and was sold as a used car. Possibly out there somewher is still this "historic" automobile.

Gerald, I'm sure that if you check the records you'll find that the car in question was not an XJ6 but a XJS. Hugh difference.

Sounds like they were really on the move. To keep an average over 100mph is not easy.

As sluggish as the XJ6 is in taking off, it sure pulls along at motorway speed without any effort.

Daniel,
I do not know how fast an '86 XJ6 will go on level ground for a short run, but Dave Heinz & Dave Yarborough won the last "official" "Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memoral Trophy Dash" in a Jaguar XJ6 (un-modified & straight from the "show-room floor") in 1979 -driving from Darien, CT to Redondo Beach, California - a distance of about 2900 miles, in 32hr51min. Yarborough would not say what was their fastest speed but AVERAGE speed was somethingthing over 100 mph -and most of this travel was on "pre-Interstate" roads.

Hrm, I should have expected that post to have been made on the first of April, I've been fooled into thinking the Kessel Run is a race or track somewhere on earth. hahaha. I looked it up.

Anyhow.... I suppose no one's willing to state how fast this car travels on flat land?

What is the Kessel Run? (The '96 XJ6 must be a bit different from mine, especially not having an XK engine or BW66 transmission). (If I recall correctly the XK engine was dropped by then)

I'm not interested in speeding in the car.

I just wish to know how fast an XJ6 is capable of traveling on flat road in normal conditions. Doesn't anyone know?

Will it go over the 220 on the speedometer? I just wonder because no one seems to know how fast these will go.

We have roads here on the island that are beautiful for high speed driving, but I'm not much for speeding. (It was my mom who was driving at 160 hehe, I've never deliberately sped.)

I had mine at significantly more than 190 yesterday, it felt fine, but I wouldn't go much faster than that, the quality of the Transcanada highway isn't very good.

Sounds like fun. Have you found the top speed of your XJ6? I've only had mine to 160km/h so far but it certainly felt like there was a lot of grunt left after that.

It was also extremely smooth at that speed.

Matty? no, not related.

Was driving my XJ6 in the rain today, it was superb at 190km/h on the transCan. I was on my way to Pitt Meadows from Vancouver this morning, it was smooth sailing all the way.
Sunday morning traffic - just terrific.

the auto-slalom event I was at didn't go so well though. confusing course, and my car started leaking fuel through the sharp corners.

Hello again, I've been busy a while.

Sounds good, I will post here some more in the future.

I just drove to Victoria from Port Alberni yesterday in the Jag. It was a nice trip.

Nice to meet all of you.

Mr. Poon, are you related to Matty?

EDIT: Yes, it is safe to assume I'm a young enthusiast, I'm 21.

Welcome to JCNA Daniel!

Is it safe for me to assume that you are quite a young Jaguar enthusiast as well?
I am 18.

Cheers,

Welcome, Daniel... our club is active and friendly, and we'll look forward to meeting you soon. Check the March newsletter (you should have received the email advising that it is available) for everything that is going on.

I realize just now that this appears to be the North America forums, and not specifically Victoria.

Anyhow, my message remains the same, just letting you all know that I meant to post in Victoria specifically.
