I am finishig a total restoration for my 1967 Series 1 4.2 Liter XKE roadster. I am at the point to decide on a radio for the car. I would like an original but would also like the sound of a modern system. I am leaning towards a new radio and would like suggestions for a car sterio and speakers that will fit the radio console and is compatible with negative ground system. The orginal speaker size is 6.5" diameter and 2 3/4" depth. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

New or Old radio for a 1967 Series 1 XKE Roadster
Hi Roger
You mights want to look at Moss motors at
http://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=66243&Sort...
I have recently purchased a unit from them and will be installing shortly.
Well for one, you shouldn't be playing a radio at ALL in a Series 1...you should be enjoying the engine sound!!! Let's face it, the E-Type is not exactly a car designed for high-fidelity.
In my opinion, you will ruin the look of the car by installing a modern radio. You've come this far and spennt so much already just to blow it in the end? No, go for the Blaupunkt Frankfort!
I assume a boom box in the passenger seat is out of the question?
