Need a little help. I am not getting any fire to the plug wires. I just recently changed the alternator and starter out. Ran fine for a couple of days then no spark to the wires. I look at the amplifier and notice a GMC part #117 5F12 on the module. Well, I took it to be tested it checked out okay. For future reference will any 4 pin module work? There is nothing to the ampilifier. Is that a capicator or a condenser? The # 1MF D 54400555 LUCAS. I notice as a crank the engine it is not allowing fire to proceed to the distributor. What else is their to check? I check the relays on the fire wall they are fine and I check the resistance of the pickup coil it was 3.3 ohms. The wires that lead from the ign. coil where do they go? Will the fuses stop it from firing.

Have you checked the coil? Common failure point.
Check the coil wiring, too (and all other wiring at top of engine)....gets very brittle from heat.
Are you getting 12 volts to the "+" side of the coil? That's good place to start. If not, suspect wiring or ignition switch.
Module is a GM 10482820. If local parts store can't do anything with that number, tell 'em you have a 77 Olds Delta with a 403 V8. (or just about any other early-late 70's GM car with a V8).
Off hand I can't think of any fuses which would relate to your no=spark condition.
By the way, I am assuming you have a Ser III XJ6 with a 4.2, yes?
Good luck
