I am hoping for some comments as to what I need to do next.
My series 2 OtS had trans leak at the bell housing oil seal. Oil got on the clutch, pressure plate and fly wheel. See pics of fly wheel. I have replacement clutch friction plate, and pressure plate. I am concerned about the fly wheel.
I clean as best I could with brake cleaner but the black areas do not come clean. What I can gather is that they are a mix of burnt oil and areas of the fly wheel surface that has been heated more than others.
I am thinking of using 400 grit sand paper and sand it gently and hopefully the surface burnt oil areas will be removed. Or do I need a professional resurfacing?
Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Now is the best time to resurface your flywheel. It's an inexpensive procedure and will give you the highest likelihood of the clutch working properly when it's assembled.
