Hello,
My 2002 XJ8 check engine light is on, but aside from going into "restricted performance" mode on occasion, runs well. The plastic coolant tower was leaking a bit for a while until I recently replaced it, so there was moisture running through the valley of the engine. I did a read on the codes, and it is displaying a "P0333" error, which is consistent with a knock sensor. Is it likely to be a failure of the knock sensor vs. something else that is causing an engine vibration that "set off" the knock sensor? The "restricted engine" seems to appear when the engine is going through a temperature change, ie, maybe when the thermostat opens, and only stays on for a few moments. Thanks for your input. It is nice to have a source of information as great as this board.

If coolant was leaking near the electronic throttle body connector, you will lose your
drive-by-wire signal, and the ECU will tell the engine togo into restricted mode.
After the coolant leak fix, put some silcone sealent around the electrical connector on your throttle body.
