I am restoring my 66 roadster. I've replaced lots of panels and taken it down to bare metal. I am debating what paint system to use :
1. Under car
2. Inside car

Folks I am working with regularly work with US classics, and like using truck bed liner over primer. They believe it provides protection and sound deadening.

Thoughts, recommendations?
Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill,

Brand new to forum and jaguar ownership, but am in Cleveland area. Working with Earl and Northcoast on mechanicals but wondering if you had any recommendations for paint shops in the area (cleveland)

I am also in the process of restoration. I use epoxy primer on bare metal and then used the Lizard Skin system for undercoating. Thermal undercoating on the bottom and footwells, tunnel etc and then acousitc followed by thermal coating for the interior.

I bought 4 gallons of thermal and 2 gallons of acoustic material. ALso need to get a spray gun for it. A normal paint gun won't work. It is the consistency of peanut butter, It is water based and easy to apply and cleanup.

I can't comment on the thermal and acousic performance yet but am happy with the toughness of the product. It's not cheap but should eliminate the need for additional interior coatings. Purchased through JEGS.

To anyone doing or considering body work. I strongly recommend a wonderful shop . AJAR auto body 400 bloomfield ave. Bloomfield ,N.J. 07003 (973) 748-3210. A family owned shop for two generations. Ask for Jim Sr or Jr.

They are currently working on a new Bentley coupe. a total pant restoration ( glass up) 1974 corvette and a new Mer. benz. I have seen a maybach and a mazaretti along with xj6 and Porsche 911.

They did an outstanding job on my 1998 xk8 hood.
