Our 1990 XJ-S is registered in Preservation class. The car is original with 20k miles and has not needed a refrigerant charge until now. Due to EPA regulations, the system cannot be re-charged with the old refrigerant and must be upgraded to work properly.
The visible changes to an upgrade appear to be minor. However, my concern is receiving a deduction since this can be viewed as non-authentic.
I've checked the 2016 rule book and am unable to find any specific mention of this.
With the upcoming season (summer and concours) Any guidance is greatly appreciated.
