looks like some good thinking went into these proposed changes.
splitting the 88+ XJ makes a lot of sense so that new XJ8s dont' compete against 15 year old XJ40s... many participants were discouraged by this.
Creating the Special Division is a good way of getting C and D back to what counts : originality while at the same time using common sense in driven in regards to tires and radios. Yet competition, specials and replicas still have their place.
For one, i look forward going back into D4 instead of C16 or Display. It was just too discouraging to start off so many points down because of low profile tires and a modern radio.
I don't see any reference to this (havent' read the all the fine print yet) but I assume the new Special division is elligible for Regional awards just like C and D ?

Re.: Proposed Rule changes
I'm very pleased to see the reasonable compromises for Driven Class rules. Frankly, until the new changes, I wasn't going to show my car again next year due to instant demerits for modern upgrades like tires and CD player. Under the old rules, although everything else on my car is "to spec," and it was just plain fun to show it, I could never hope to place well.
Now, we'll give the old girl another try next summer!

Re.: Proposed Rule changes
I am glad to see the splitting up of the later XJ6 classes. I have been proposing this for some time as with both my '92 and '96 I have had to compete, literally, with ones right off the showroom floor. This is a step in the right direction. Low participation in these classes could be because people could not compete with brand new cars. Now I will go back to campaigning my cars again.

Yay! I cant wait til next season, I will be able to compete against cars like mine, cars which are seasoned and driven, instead of brand new showroom fresh ringers!
I hope to see 3 or 4 events next season compared to 2 this year. I might even have some touch up bodywork done just to make my car more competitive. None of this was under consideration before these rule changes.
Thanks for listening JCNA concours rules committe!
