What is the cost of the 5 speed plus the job? And what is wrong with the 4 speed that it needs such a lot of repairs? Did it just fall apart? MY 4 SPEED (1971, 4.2) grinds a little bit downshifting unless help it a bit with the rpm. Does that mean the synchro is failing? If I double clutch it , it works perfectly or just match the engine speed to the mainshaft speed works ok too. I'm still getting used to it , but it is still better than my old '53 box. That one took slow and careful shifting to avoid grinding.
