Got the new relay but nothing marked so I am trying to guess which wire goes where on the relay-- (relay bolts beside the washer bottle)
I have put numbers on tape on relay -- 1-2-3-4-5
The schematic numbers C1-C2-C4 W1-W2
I am guessing #1 is C4
#2 is C2
#3 is C1
#4 is W2
#5 is W1
Can anyone correct or verify this?

Re.: 70 xke starter relay -wire to post match
Thanks again!
No, this relay has no markings of any kind.
I called SNG and talked to Mike Dollard , he found another relay like the one I was sent- his was marked and we went over them. I'm checking with the ohm meter before installing.

Re.: 70 xke starter relay -wire to post match
I'm a little confused, are there no markings at all on the new relay? If so I would send it back and get a proper one. In any event, you can't assume what the terminals are, you have to test the relay to find out. The W contacts can be found by using a ohmmeter, they will be the ones that show a resistance, these carry the trigger feed usually on small gauge wire. The C terminals carry the main operating current usually on larger wires. The C1 has the battery feed & only closes when triggered by the W circuit solenoid. There are many different relays, on this one, current flows through it from C1 to C4, Then, when the solenoid is triggered the feed is transfered fom C4 to C2. Using an ohmmeter you can tell which go where.

I just came up with a page that may answer your question:
www.captainjaguarscathouse.com/electrical_guides/xke
Good luck.

I couldn't come up with a picture of your solenoid, do you have a digital photo of it with your number labels?

Now , I hooked them all up, and hooked the harness wire -brown to starter solenoid and white-red to starter. When I crank it up, as soon as the key is released to run position the car dies. I unhooked the brown wire and back to normal start-run. ???
