William, on the subject of the secondary spindle, I have no evidence that it will leak. Removing the butterflies allows the spindle to move with vibration but I do not know if it actually will. To be safe, I plugged the two end holes with bolts and sealing washers and a little silicone on the threads. Have not had any problems.
