OK, just sent the folks at Faster Jags a couple of thousand bucks for parts and now there is NO communication from them in several days. Should I be nervous or are these guys solid? All that I have asked is when and how the parts are to be shipped and an ETA. Unreasonable? I think not...

The radiator manufacturer got back to me...it is the small plug on top on the drivers side....should be able to see coolant through it, if not should add some. Run the car, then do it again, and again, until anytime you open it you see coolant. Thanks Wizard Cooling Systems, FasterJags, and Art D. for all responding separately with the same answer ;-D

Will advise if this does the trick...

Art:

There are a couple of plugs: a small brass one on the top left, another small brass on the top right that has a couple of small lines under it, and a large ( 1 inch plus ) on the engine side above where the hose connection is. Which one do you remove? The large one looks to have some sort of white sealant on it, which I assume needs to be replaced if this is removed...what do you use? I also assume that opening the fill cap is useless in this exercise, correct? It indeed is acting like there could be air pockets.

Different system but while you should never ignore your gauges you should make sure they are accurate--check what that position means by measuring the temp at the coolant system with a laser thermometer.

My 95 V12 the needle is running at the RT side of the N on the leg of the N. 98 degree day. Usually runs at LT side of N leg. Have never saw my gauge at the lower side of the N unless it is 85 degrees or lower. Are you saying I have a problem also?.

if you are not really up to speed on these engines, you may not be aware they need to have the air bled out of the system as do many even more modern engines......Normally there is a bleed nut / plug on the d/side of the rad, at the top, hope there is one on the replacement tank..... remove the bleeder plug and see if there is water visible when it is removed.......run the engine for a few minutes and keep repeating this till you see water. another trick is to leave the plug lose in its threads and watch for bubbles / water seeping out.....it may take several tries to get all the air out........Art 604 465 7244 Pacific Time......normally these engines run just below the N......also have the thermostats been installed with the bleed hole / jiggle pins at the 12.00 O'clock position. two of them that is. Good Lucko.

George as I write this I have a 89 XJ-S running with the AC on--it shows H or almost. The actual temperature is 189 F which is about right for these conditions. You seem ready to attack the radiator when there are a lot of other reasons including the possibility your temperature gauge and thermal switch for the fans could be bad. I understand your tech did the install as directed--but he did not test the results? As far as the fans on your "old" system one was elec and the other belt driven--right? Give me a call on the Tech. line at 888-258-2524 x#3 before you go any further and especially before you post any more comments about a vendor here. Please.

OK, my '90 XJS convertible finally got the new "higher capacity" aluminum radiator installed, the new dual electric fan system, new thermostats, new hoses, new belts, etc. Temperature guage is now showing higher temperatures than before I spent all of this money. After running in 95+ degree outside temperature conditions it shows about halfway between N and H. Before it just got a little above N. For a radiator that claims 40% more cooling I seem to be missing something somewhere. Both fans run all of the time and both turn off when you turn the car off. Old system the electric fan kept running for a minute or so. Thoughts? I am sure that my tech will be baffled as he just did the installation as directed. Going to call him shortly. Radiator was made by Wizard Cooling and sold via FasterJags BTW. I have communicated with both, but no response as of yet.

If anyone has a problem with a particular vendor, this is not the place to publicise it. If you want to ask an opinion on a certain vendor or shop or even ask for a reference, that is fine. However, if the response is negative, then it needs to be private, not on this forum. Althought it can be interpreted as helping others when there is a problem, this kind of open communication could bring the JCNA into legal issues which is something we don't need. Further abuse of this can result in a ban from forum useage for the offending party.

we even have people calling themselves Dr. .....building engines.....a waste of two years of my life negotiating with that ONE.

He actually still owes me a couple of parts and yep, no communication...he may pop out at any moment though. No serious issues with the parts that I do have although I have not installed the Hi-cap radiator and fans yet. The radiator comes from a quality manufacturer that deals mostly with hot rods, etc. Not sure where he gets the fans. The Growler air intakes were not the same high quality that I have gotten from other resources for other cars, but they do work. Easy to install, did it myself in about an hour for both. FasterJags is not his "main" job as you saw from the shipping address. He sells on eBay and when I couldn't get in touch with him I sent him a message via eBay. What I am missing are the fuel rails, about $260. I paid with PayPal so I might just have them get my money back and deal with him. As you can see from the above, Brian is apparently no stranger to JCNA....

Has anybody else had dealings with this guy in the last month? With a two month old order half fulfilled and fully paid he now seems to have fallen off the earth and will not take calls or return emails. His customer service was great but then nothing!

There are some concerns with the products and serious concerns with the follow-up. I hope this doesn't have to turn into an ugly mess.

These are nice cats, also from Magnaflow, just a little larger than each of the former OEM cats, but MUCH more open....should be just as clean if not more so. And, despite being the owner of an officially classified "gas guzzler", I do want to attempt to keep the air clean ;-). Didn't know about the "smell bad" aspect, but good to have avoided it....

Submitted by silver007@shaw.ca on Sun, 05/22/2011 - 11:09

good you put in two hi flows, without any cats these cars tend to smell bad, esp if you have a convertible....

OK, all parts in, will do the install this coming week on the cooling/ fuel injection/Growler air intake upgrade. Got the exhaust sorted out last week....2.25" piping, two high flow cats versus the old four, two new MagnaFlow high flow muflers, and two Monza resonator tips. Sounds much better, ie you can hear it now...but not obnoxious at all, just sounds like a V12... ;-)

Just wanted to update that all parts are now in transit via Fed Ex and should have them all shortly....had a little rough start from a communication perspective but it looks like that I am going to get all of my parts ( new high performance aluminum radiator, hoses, high output electric fans, thermostats, switch, Growler air intakes, fuel injection hoses, etc. ) and will be able to put them in next week. There were some negative comments about FasterJags above but don't think that they were called for IMHO...will advise of how the parts actually install and function ;-)

Well, I finally decided that I was just excited about getting my "stuff" and should be patient...at least reasonably so ;-) The guy that I have been dealing with, Brian Welker, as I was deciding what to purchase, was super helpful and nice. Will just keep following up...

I purchased from fastjag back on feb. 2010. I had no problem. I only spent $62.00. I do agree they should get back to you asap. I buy almost everything on line and this is a common problem. You just have to be vigilant and watch the mail and or call / email untill you get a responce. Good Luck.

Submitted by browder@nuventrs.com on Fri, 05/06/2011 - 20:33

OK, then perhaps I should just relax, but I still cannot fathom someone that cannot take the time to return an email or phone call AFTER the sale when before the sale was giving instant responses ;-)

Pretty typical of Faster Jags from what I've heard over the years. Slow service but I've never heard of anyone getting stiffed. I think it's a one man show sideline business type of thing.

Cheers
