I wrote an article for our club's newsletter in June regarding what I saw after replacing my 1970 frame rails with new ones from E Type Fabs. I had the old ones dipped and was quite surprised to see much more than pinhole rust. I could almost insert the end of my pinkie finger into some of the holes. I'll try to attach pix of my left & right rails. (Before dipping the rails had been painted black and were covered in the usual "preservatives", making it extremely hard to see the holes from under the car.) In both pix, you're looking at the bottom of the frame rails.
