I guess my car fits in this forum -- though it is not a saloon.

My XJ220 was hit in rear in parking lot 20 months ago. Most parts replaced but XJ220 distributor could not get wheels off since car was sitting so long.

1) Does anyone know what the metals are for axel ($30K replacement) and knockoff $6k) which apparently have bonded/amalgamated/fused?
2) Any suggestions - have tried heat and multiplier torque mallets.

TIA

I think what you need is a practical mechanic. I am by no means that familiar with a 220 although I have ridden in two (one around the Nurburing) but the problem you describe is common on other later model Jaguars (esp XJ-S and XJS). What works well is to loosen the nuts (in your case nut) slightly and drive in your parking lot or driveway stoping and starting and reversing. This should free the surfaces. Good luck. George Camp
