I have recently joined the club due to my new acquisition. Actually, it is my 50th Birthday present(early actually, Nov. 5th) from my wife.
My 1961 restored E Type Coupe 885201 just arrived the other day.
I am a long time hobby racer. Current ownwership is the 1994 Raybestos Ford Winston Cup Car that took Jeff Burton to "Rookie of the Year"
A Stock Car you say? I said the same thing until I decided to drive one. You see, previous to that, I raced a 427 Shelby Competition Cobra. The faster I became the more I started to worry about staying on the right side of the grass so, the Cobra went and the Cup Car arrived.
Now as I start to ripen some more, I felt the need to have the one car I have lusted for since I was 6.
I am very fluent in chassis set-ups and other mechanical tasks as I did the primary work on my race cars. I am always interested in helping as well as learning about my new found Marque

Re.: Oldie but Newbie
From one Steve to another, welcome! Absolutely beautiful car. I don't know where you are located, but you should seriously consider bringing your new baby to the Challenge Championship in Atlanta this September. (Check the information available from the home page.) As a racer, you'll enjoy participating in the JCNA slalom competition with your new XKE. And maybe we'll even see you at some of the HPDE's that are held around the country.
Best of luck and enjoy the new ride. BTW, where are you located?

Steve: Welcome to JCNA, and happy birthday! Your car is a real beauty! Make sure you get a Heritage Certificate for it. What part of the country are you in? I don't know about that Cobra/Cup Car swap. I think I would have gone for an open-wheel IRL type racer myself...but what do I know.
I look forward to seeing your posts here, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Again, welcome to the select club of E-Type owners.

Patrick,
The car has a Heritage certificate already from one the previous owners. It also came with all the documentation of the 60K resto, the original warranty and other goodies. It is a J62 California car and was built Nov of '61. Also 2 major Newport Beach concour wins where the 2nd owner who did all the work resided. The first owner, Sydney Rosenberg was apparently quite the success story. Apparently his father started a building maintenance business in San Francisco circa 1909 as a one man independent window washer. He bacame the president of the now largest(I believe) building maintenance companies in the US called ABM Industries, a public company with over 2 Billion in sales. Sydney was also an ownwer of the San Francisco Giants and the Stanford University, Sydney Rosenberg Athletic Hall of Fame bares his name. The story goes on and on....I feel quite honored to be in such prestigious company.
As for the IRL...well I was trying to be in a safer car. Open wheel, in my opinion is as dangerous as it gets. I will list my website at the end of this post so you will see the dichomety of what I do as opposed to what I love. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION. But be sure to got to "TEAM PHOTO'S"
Steve, I don't believe I will be doing any racing in this one but, you never know. The one thing I always remembered about the morning drivers meeting of the 1st race day. It was said that.."there is nothing you can do during the next 3 days that will make your car look any better than it does right now" I am just not sure I want to play with the "E" in that way. If I keep the cup car and take it to any more events, I will allow those of you who are highly skilled to take it for a few laps at 7/10ths. Bring extra underwear..
I am in WEST ORANGE, NEW JERSEY.

I am attaching a photo of last years oops from turn 1 at "The Glen"
That was after a 170 MPH front straight and obvious problem with the 300 foot mark.
