Steven, thanks for your perspective on dealer's point of view - I do understand that business survival for a dealer transcends all other objectives however if you are the only Jaguar Dealer with multiple locations collectively serving the entire state - it leaves a Jaguar owner who prefers to have the vehicle professionally serviced by a well qualified factory trained technician at a loss. While there are several auto service/repair facilities in my area, I have yet to find one that understands my car in spite of their banner suggesting experience, knowledge, and familiarity with the product. Moreover, and much to my dismay, I have found that the independent shops I have experienced have demonstrated a reckless concern and lack of respect for my car's cosmetic integrity. I bring my car to them in a clean condition both inside and out and pick it up dirty and with grease marks in addition to minor dents, scratches, and damage to which they categorically deny responsibility. What needs to be understood is that my car is basically a garage queen so I am fully aware of any dents, scratches or damage - it's not a daily driver. I am not one to throw dollars after pennies in the pursuit of justice as postulated in the principle of diminishing returns nor am I inclined to compromise my free time in exchange for the inconvenience and anxiety associated with the pursuit of justice. Finally, I am leaning toward learning how to do the work myself as I am retired and have a systematic and meticulous way about any projects I pursue ...and yes you are correct in your assessment that suggests I would be better off not bringing my car to a dealer with incompetent or inexperienced technicians. I hope my reply was not verbose or offensive.
