My Austin Healey 100 ,all rebuilt, took me at dawn to the century mark on the Queensway(Ottawa Freeway) and a little over, but the shaking started to concern me so , I slowed down fearing turning into a cloud of Bondo bits.
I had spent over 2000 hours on that car and it was a lovely flat axel cornering car at low speed competitions , so I stayed within the sound barrier, I have never driven over that speed since those days(except on my Norton 850) . It placed second in its class at the hill climb . It was beaten by a Cooper "S" with a hot cam running Methanol Red-X Nitro.
Only by 1/10th of a second , so I didn't feel too bad with my totally stock machine from 1953.
