Since I've been browsing these forums I've notice talk about rearend third member color I bought paint to color it the off red ,but when I took my rear end carrier appart my rear end is black with the red underneath as a primer.This car is a very original 70' ots that has never been touched,..ie same shocks,same rotors and everything!.I see people restoring rearend in just the red primer color is this correct!!!, I guess the debate gos on. anybody have an explaination.

Sorry Dick but the red is not primer it is Glyptol and it is present thru series 2 "E"s and later. George Camp
From the thousands of jag rear ends I have seen I can only remember 1 or 2 with the reddish finish. I have seen some salisbury diffs of this color on other british cars and I but I can't remember exactly which. Jaguar affectionado and etc.
