The replacement exhaust system for my US delivery 1968 E-type OTS LHD came with U-shaped clamps to be used before and after the front mufflers and to attach the rear mufflers to the tailpipes.
Were the original clamps circular, and more importantly, were the rear mufflers welded to the tail pipes or clamped? A diagrams in my shop manual shows clamps before and after the front mufflers but shows the rear mufflers welded to the tailpipe assembly.
I'd like to have a clean, simple installation but would also like to keep the car as close to original as possible.
Thanks for all the great replies that always come back so promptly.

Jim all clamps were circle type-which aids removal in the future as they do not distort the pipes. The res. were not welded but had circle clamps that were not in the J 37 but on the cars never-the-less after1E 13182, 1E33120, and 1E75992. Part number C.13063. This change began in Dec. 1966 and is covered in Spares bulletin M 41. If you are trying to get everything correct you should also know that M43 Dated July 1967 eliminated the bolts from the tail pipe straps and replaced that system with a welded strap between the pipes.
