Greetings All,
I'm still pretty new here, just under 2 years membership. I like reading these forums, scanning for tech info that interests me, or that I think I might be able to contribute to. Unfortunately, I'm so new that I feel I'm taking more than I'm giving back. As I become more and more knowledgeable on this car (which has been in the family since the early 80's, but now it's up to me to care for), I realize that there's more and more still to be learned.
That said, I think there's a ton of great info here. But this site is also somewhat cumbersome to use compared to others that I frequent (not meant as a criticism). I'm looking forward to the new site, and hope that all of these posts will be archived on the new site for easy(-ier) access. I know that I'm one who does search past posts/threads looking for answers to questions I have. Occassionally, I come across one that I can contribute to, even if well after the fact.
I find that Jaguar has a much smaller percentage of "enthusiast" owners than other specialty marques I've been involved with (Ferrari and Triumph - still have the Spitfire I bought right out of college!). I think that's a large part of why traffic here seems so light. I hope that the new site draws in more owners, but fear it won't make a large difference. The local Jag dealer gives a one year JCNA membership to every new car buyer - and more than one of them have contacted the club to express a distinct, shall we say, *disinterest* in any club activities. Sad and unfortunate, but a fact of life.
On the plus side, we have one new young member (in his early 30's) who just acquired his first Jag - a '92 XJS. I hope there's more like him, but Jaguar doesn't always play to a "young" crowd.
Sorry for rambling - just my two drachma.
(p.s. - George, the E-Type book arrived yesterday, and I've already read it cover-to-cover! Thanks!)
