Hi everyone. I have a 1970 S2 2+2 that I did not take apart. I am in the process of putting it back together at the moment. Today I began to install the carbs and manifold and tried to figure out the arrangement of the various water hoses. I seem to have managed except there appears to be one outlet on the rear of the manifold that I can not figure out what it connects to. One is the out to the heater hose, right beside it is a second fitting, same size, I have no idea what it connects to. The various manuals I have are no help.
Thanks
Joe

Series 2 water hoses
Thanks Michael. I had forgotten about the vacuum tank. I will check that out today. And George page 34 will be examined as well.

There are two fittings on the back of the manifold...one is the hot water supply line, which feeds the heater through one of the bulkhead bypass pipes. The other is for manifold vacuum, it connects to the Reservac via the check valve.
There is also a tube suspended under the manifold, which carries return water from the other bulkhead bypass to the water pump.

I think that may be a vacuum hose connection for the servo etc!

Thanks George....I do have the illustrated parts manual. I actually picked it up today. I had a quick look but didn't see the answer. I'll check again tomorrow.

Joe if you had the illustrated parts manual (in the shoppe) it would show you. I think the by-pass hoses for the manifold have you confused. There are two special hoses that come out from the manifold log.

Problems above have been solved, thanks everyone who responded. I have one further question though. I have removed the secondary throttle valves from my manifolds and am wondering if I should buy the two short hoses that go to and from the manifold the carbs are bolted to, or should I block these water passages. It would involve blocking the arm on the metal heater return pipe under the manifolds and the three holes in the manifolds. Just finding bolts of the right size would do it.
I am wondering if this is a good idea. It would make the manifold the carbs are bolted to unheated but the manifold bolted to the engine would remain heated by the coolant.
Thoughts?
Joe
