Need help, "85 xj6, starter solenoid clicks and just bumps engine. New starter "twice", new battery. Have schematic, traced out all relays and all seem to be working fine. Local shop said to run jumper from starter relay on bulkhead to (+ post) on battery. Tried that with no results. What gives? Any ideas will be tried. thanks to all, Victor Gardino

Slow turning starter, if at all
it could be the Ignition Switch, remove the knee foam panel carefully, once you see the ignition switch wires, gently wiggle them while turning the key to start. Also check the rubber connector at the end of the wires from the switch. Twist it with both hands while pressing both halves together.

Check the main grounding strap under the car. Right side, about where the engine and transmission come together. You'll see it. If the contact points are fouled with dirt and grease you'll have problems.

Take the spark plugs out and see if there is any difference, try turning crank with socket on end of crankshaft, Art
