I have preformed a thorough run down of my Jag and have found these problems:
A.) The contents of the right side fuel tank aren't registering on the dash gauge. After checking the electrical connections from the tank to the sender, I have concluded that there must be some problem with the float. The car spent three years in a garage before I bought it. My guess is that the float is stuck in place. Any suggestions?
B.) I am also trying to drop out my left gas tank. The only bolt that remains is in the muffler tunnel and is blocked by the exhaust tip. I believe the only way to gain access to this bolt is to remove the exhaust pipe, but I can't seem to get it off.
C.) The light bulb below the gear selector needs to be replaced. What kind of bulb is required?
D.) When the car starts up there is a high pitched "pinging" should of metal on metal. It is the starter rubbing on the flywheel and I was told the cause of it was faulty electrical connection to the starter, which is making it unable to hold. Any thoughts on this one?
E.) And the last problem is the tach. It is apparently disconnected. The wire should lead the coil, correct? Only three of the four connector ports on the coil are taken. How should I go about tracking down the tach wire?

Hi Will,
Problem #4 sounds like a broken spring in the starter that is supposed to spring the drive back away from the flywheel once the engine starts. This is a relatively inexpensive and easy fix. Just remove the starter and bring it to your local auto electric guy who should be able to fix it for around $30.00.
