Hopefully someone can help me, I have a number matching 1962 XKE Roadster, I bought it about two weeks ago and the starter went bad, I ordered a new one, but it had a nine tooth gear on the end, mine has a ten gear, I could have taken the the gear off and switch out but it was busted up all over the place. Moss does not have any such thing, I'm assuming some where in the last 44 years the fly wheel was changed, hence the ten tooth, i'm a novice lover of JaguarsI'm probably the least knowledge member, new at that to, so any help would be appreciated. I also need several other parts to pass New Hampshire Inspection and I'm getting a lot of three week delivery, is this what I should expect or am I dealing with the wrong people, Moss and Barret.
Thanks

Talk with Graham at SNG Barratt. They are right there in New Hampshire. He is very knowledgeable and should be able to help with that. If you are keeping the original starter, as an alternative, consider taking it to a shop and having it rebuilt. There is no magic in them. It's just a starter motor. If you are changing it out for a high torque modern starter, those are all Nippo Denso starters, most adapted by the same company out of Massachusetts -- Gustofson. If SNG Barratt doesn't have the starter with the right gear, check with Gustofson and they may be able to tell you who has it in stock.
