Re.: sump color
Yes but see the comments about the drain plug. SII all should have drains. In fact I put them in all "E"s as it makes for good maintenance to drain out the crud at service time. You only have to let out a pint as all the bad stuff is down there. It is the same system as small aircraft use except you need a wrench.

Re.: sump color
It is black. The natural color is steel with a brass ring (threaded) at the top and a brass plug at the bottom. Left natural the steel would rust quickly. If the car has a later sump with drain the drain plug (bolt is silver cad with a alum. washer. For tools I always turn to Tom Buckus. 717-263-8701 or tbuckusinnernet.net. He has provided me 10-15 tool kits over the last few years and all have been perfect. He restores the tools and never tries to slip one by. He is a nice guy. If you call him ask if he has bought his wife her new Jaguar "S" yet. Better if she answers ask her why not?

Re.: sump color
And one more question: is the gas tank sump judged in Champion class?
Thanks,
Daniel
If it is visible (which the sump is) always assume it is judged.
