Has anyone towed an XJ6 Series 3 with a single axle tow dolly? I called UHaul and Pensky. Both said that an XJ6 is too low. I assume they mean that it can't be driven onto the dolly? If that is the case, I can make longer wooden ramps to get the car on the dolly. I would put the back end of the car on the dolly, so the drive train is not being used. The trip is about 350 miles. Any thoughts, experiences are appreciated.

being "too low" is not the issue, if you read the XJ Owner's Handbook or the Factory Service Manual, it states that Towing the XJ must be done with all four tires off the ground, or if you are towing with the FRONT tires on a dolly, you must disconnect the driveshaft from either the transmission or the differential side. Otherwise the transmission will be permanently damaged even if put in Neutral.

Then if you try to place the REAR tires on the dolly and lock the steering, it turns out that the rear is too long, unless you have a very extended dolly.
